The Latest Prototype Air Force Service Dress
Once again the Air Force is changing uniforms. Here are the latest prototypes for the new Service Dress. It's styled after the old 1930s-40s 'Billy Mitchell and Hap Arnold' design.
First, the original Billy Mitchell... Dressed to Impress
Here's the Mitchell design circa 2006.
Wait, that short female on the left looks strangely familiar.
Could it be?
We're all still up in the air on this new look. As bad as the new BDUs look, I'm shocked these don't have pinstripes, coat tales, or ruffled collars. Either way we're all going to be out another $500 bones to buy all new gear yet again.

Kinda looks like Babylon 5 to me!
9:05 PMWhat is all the hype over changing the uniforms? SERIOUSLY. I can understand changing the BDU. Updated lightweight fabric and the no-press option are fine with me. But the blues? Come ON. Didn't we already go through this?
10:34 AMMy immediate thought upon seeing those blue uniforms was that the Air Force was merging with Starfleet Command.
I'm just glad they didn't go with those blue BDU prototypes. You know, the ones that made people look like Battle Smurfs.
Or like they were French.
Battlestar Galactica maybe?
1:15 PMWhat, no riding breeches?
11:04 PMAs a traditionalist, I think they're pretty sharp. It's déjà vu all over again.
9:55 AMI really want to keep the blue suit we have now.
4:59 AMThis is a classic military design. It looks great. The blue suit makes you look like a used car salesman, they're horrible.
6:02 AMYa know, it looks like a German SS, Ehhh, they were all evil, but they looked good, AND, well, with Bush Jr. in the white house, and his new laws and such, I think we should reflect the way we feel, make it real. Hell, I think we should go WAYYYY Back and make almost "imperial" looking dress jackets. Sashes, orders, stars and dress swords... talk about looking good.
1:48 AMWhy are we putting money into research for a new service dress when we have 2 wars to fund?
