James Brown... My Best Concert Experience of All Time
James Brown was one of the most entertaining, best dancing, best all around performers to ever grace the stage. I was lucky enough to see him perform 5 years ago up in Fairbanks Alaska. The day before the concert I heard him on the radio giving an interview, and I couldn't understand the guy. I expected his show would be just as 'old' and unintelligible, but thankfully I was 100% wrong. James Brown kicked ass that night.
His moves, his voice, his style, his attitude, his command of the audience... unmatched. He owned that place, and to this day I always tell people the best concert I've ever been to was 3rd row James Brown.
Even now, when I'm doing my PT test for the Air Force, I'm listening to James Brown on my Mp3 player while running. Nothing gets me moving faster on the final stretch than hearing that repeating line from 'Sex Machine' which says 'Shake yo money maker....'.
Thanks for all the good times James. Your music and style influenced this nation more than you'll ever know.

James Brown remains an icon in the music world. His influence on so many artists who followed him will never be forgotten.
9:32 AMI really hated to hear this yesterday. Never saw him in person, but he was a joy to watch! Sometimes we feel as if pieces of ourselves are disappearing as folks leave us.
10:51 AMI agree. There will never be a Dizzy Guillespie, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Jam Master Jay, Janis Joplin... the list goes on and on. The originals are all leaving us, and only the wannabes are left to give us scraps of what was once great.
Makes me wonder if we've reached our peak of greatness and talent. Is it all down hill from here?
Nah, can't be. Dizzy, Frank & Ella I miss a lot, Janis Joplin not so much - she never impressed me. I could listen to Ella forever, though.
6:22 PM"Super Bad" is awesome when you're trying to crank out the last few minutes of a workout...
8:13 PMMissBirdlegs,
I listened to Ella for most of my Christmas music this year. She has one of the best voices ever recorded.
Janis is cool because she was unique and original. I can't stand new folks that base their entire stage persona on her, or anyone else for that matter. C'mon, get your own style and stop copying others.
Then again I'm wearing Elvis glasses and a jump suit.
