West Bound and Down, Loaded up and Truck'n!
I've got a picture of one of the Galactica Vipers on my desktop at work now thanks to Dave. Still impressed he got to hang out with all of these actor-types and order a pizza from the deck of Galactica.

I'm going to be spending all day today getting ready for a week in LA, followed by a week in Arizona. All for work of course, but the wife-unit has decided to tag along the LA portion of the trek. So while I'm stuck in meetings in Long Beach, tearing apart aircraft at Edwards AFB, and talking to some Russians out in Arizona about START Treaty stuff (which they really really really won't like to talk about), the wife will get to hang out at the beach with our daughters and do everything I wish I could. Surf, Sand, and Sun.
What I am looking forward to doing is spending the weekend with them and taking the girls to In-n-Out for the first time. Looking at Disneyland too, but the prices are criminal just to get into the front gate. $60 bones for each kid? Guess it's not the happiest place on earth anymore unless you're in the upper echelon.
I would really like to drive up the coast to Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay to show them where I grew up, but we'll see if we can squeeze the drive in. 7hrs is a long drive just to walk around a few hours and buy a few shirts from Santa Cruz Skateboard Shop.
But then again, I really miss the place.
So, I'll be taking an insane amount of pictures from LA/Long Beach/Edwards/Arizona and everywhere else I can without having the dogs and/or big guys with automatic weapons turned on me.

Oh man, I'm jealous. One time at In-N-Out and the kids will be hooked. Agree on Disneyland - the place is a rip off, especially when you factor in the food, toys, parking, etc. Better off spending the $ on some rental wetsuits and boards and taking them out surfing...with fish and shrimp tacos afterwards. Hopefully the Russians will bring along some good vodka in AZ.
Can't wait to see the pics!
Darn you! How come you get all the cool TDYs? I haven't had In-n-Out in God knows how long. Enjoy the fresh (and cheap) seafood and fresh (and cheap) Calif fruits. Everywhere we go we are tied to the plane. Still got the list of Chinese places to eat?
BTW, have you checked with the Base Ticket Hut for D-Land ticket prices? Instead of D-Land, how about Knotts or Magic Mtn?

Lindsay,
I considered bringing along the vodka I bought in Kyrgyzstan for them, but I might end up offending them with this crap so I chose to leave it behind. Surf lessons... why didn't I think of that??!! Thank you!
Tumbleweed,
Since I'm back on my old platform with a new program (ductaping stuff to the airframe of course), I get to go to Cali every so often once again. Can't believe how lucky I got, although I'll spend more time in Mojave than the beach. I lost that list of restaurants... can you send it again? I've got my BBerry.
Chris,
Where's 'Phuket Thai?' Is that as popular as 'Pho Shizzle?' I'd much rather be down in San Diego than LA. Looking up some conferences happening then... you're not headed to Prostate conference, are you? Helluva way to make a living my friend.
Heh I'd love to be able to talk with the Russians and hear what they have to say, but my job keeps me tied to the flightline at DM. But I have to say, it is pretty cool watchin F-4s taxi in and out of the AMARC every once in a while.
5:56 PMI wish you could get up here to SC too ~ T'is much better than LA and the waves are better...Don't let anyone from Huntington Beach tell you different!
Have fun anyhoo - maybe one of these trips...
It ain't Battlestar Galactica without Starbuck.
