The Bathroom......................... Is Finished

I started this project in November of last year. Here's what the corner of the basement originally looked like before I got my hands on it.

Before
And After

It took way too long to complete, and more money than it should have. I knew I should have invested in Lowe's and Home Depot before I started. The Generalisima (aka the Mrs.) helped out a lot with the tile, and she gets full credit for decorating. She purchased of the little doo-dads and candles and stuff for almost nothing. I probably should have had her build the bathroom too, since she knows where to get the deals.
Final analysis. Good Job. Final lesson. Have the home builder build it for you so you don't have to waste so much time doing it yourself. It was probably a wash in terms of dollars. Then again, we get the satisfaction of building it ourselves.
Satisfaction, and lots and lots of time spent on your knees.

That is quite impressive. Like zopher, I didn't see any plumbing connections in the "before" picture.

If you had to do all of that as well, I can't imagine taking on such a challenge.

Zoph, RWA, the only plumbing was off to the left of the 'before' photo. There were two drain pipes coming through the cement. One for the sink, and one for the toilet. I added a 'Y' connection and ran a drain pipe to where the shower is located. I then had to build a platform so the shower could sit over the drain pipe, which is why there's a step up to the shower. I then ran water pipes behind the finished portion of the basement walls about 30 feet, connecting them to where my water softner and water heater are.

All of that was easy. The worst part of all of this mess was getting the drywall sanded down smooth enough, and the door frame. I butchered the door frame when I installed it, so it's not as nice as everything else. My first door install, so there were lots of lessons learned on that one.

Linsdsay,

Of course she has great taste, she married the Cap, right? Seriously though, she's really good at decorating, and doing it on a budget. She spent so little, it made up for my mismanagement of the bathroom budget.

El Capitan,

Welcome back. I meant to post more on the blog but I got sidelined by a cold that got both the missus and myself. Ugh.
