R.I.P. Boris Yeltsin
Sure, you hurt millions of your own people, your economy, and your nation's Democratic future, but who could blame you? You were given an impossible task; transform the corrupt, broken Soviet Union and her dying satellite states into Democratic nations. The only way you could have removed the old Stalinist system of corruption and bribery was to 'purge' every former Soviet leader from every former Soviet government bureaucracy, but that would have left you with even less capability to rule than when you started.
Basically, you did your best. You didn't help much, and you only left the country vulnerable to a new emerging anti-Democratic Dic (tator) who was short but deadly, Putin, but at least you tried. It's a lot more than anyone else in Russia had done for 80+ years.
So a toast to Boris! May your God and your liver forgive you, wherever you may be.

I know it's off-topic but did you see the story about the Blue Angel who crashed? They were supposed to come to Offutt in early May but I don't think they'll make it.

I've missed Boris Yeltsin since he's been out of the public eye. Seriously. His episode getting drunk and trying to direct that band at a speech was perfect. It made my day.
10:30 PMAFW,
I almost forgot about Yeltsin, drunk on stage, doing the twist with that pop band and those lady dancers.
Those were the good old days.
